This 50hr 6 week course delivered by Dr. Lee, is aimed at senior level undergraduate/graduate students with intermediate civil and geotechnical experiences who also want to apply best available probabilistic/stochastic analysis tools to real geotechnical/environmental/civil engineering problems. This course covers principles and basics of probabilistic/ stochastic analysis methods and its applications for shallow foundation/retaining wall/soil&GW remediation designs, statistical evaluation of engineering properties of soil/rock, guidance to best available geotechnical/civil filter design with soil and filter properties, and practical exercise problem sets from actual author’s project experiences.

This 50hr 6 week course delivered by Dr. Alun Thomas, looks at the over-arching principles of design in the context of soft ground. Topics such as safety, risk management, sustainability and design codes will be covered in outline. The key aspects of geotechnics will be highlighted, on the assumption that the attendees have a basic understanding of this subject already. Additionally, this course provides insight into many related topics such as ground treatment, instrumentation and monitoring and sustainability. Each subject will be illustrated with easy to understand examples and practical cases.

This is a 50hr course delivered by Abdel-Hadi Hor, teaching the core of ArcGIS platform, from designing and creating maps, carry out spatial analysis, built and edit spatial databases, creating Web GIS Services and developing web applications. The course consists of lectures, discussions, exercises and assignments with instructor support.

This 50hr course running 6 weeks provides a foundation for future development and practice as consultants, designers, and builders to understand and be able to apply various techniques of ground modification and soil improvement. Delivered by Professor Ahmed Khan, this course covers principles, methods and applications of ground modification and soil Improvement in an easy to understand manner with provision of online support throughout.

This is a 50hr course running 6 weeks, designed for college and university students alongside current studies, practitioner, technicians and engineers alike, wishing to learn or refresh their knowledge of soil mechanics. Professor Ian Smith provides introduction to the settlement behaviour of soils underloading, followed by coverage of the key subject of shear strength of soils. Application of the theory in civil engineering is made through the subjects of bearing capacity followed by introduction to the design procedures of Eurocode 7. To conclude, the design of shallow foundations in accordance with Eurocode 7, is covered.

This six week course presented by Ingeoexpert Training Center in collaboration with Geomechanica will provide an overview of numerical methods commonly used in rock engineering while also introducing the finite-discrete element method (FDEM), with a focus on theoretical aspects as well as computational and software implementation aspects.

Hard rock mines in deep and high stress environments often require the use of seismic systems to enable operators to manage seismic risk posed to the workforce, the mining investment and the environment. Seismic data is also used in assessing the rock mass response to mining activities where source parameters are used in the interpretation of rock mass failure mechanisms, the calibration of numerical modelling, and the interpretation of failure mechanics of the rock mass.
